What is a trademark? How does one protect a trademark? Join us for a session on the basics of trademark law. The discussion will focus on what constitutes a trademark, different types of marks and their significance, issues related to licensing trademarks, the dos and don’ts of using trademarks, common misconceptions related to trademarks, trademark infringement vs. permissible use and several other topics related to the essentials of trademark law. During our session we will try to address many issues important to the MIT community. Anyone who has already dealt with or will be dealing with other areas of intellectual property law may find this course particularly beneficial.
