In Peru

In addition to having fun with our kids on the soccer field or at other recreational events, the following list highlights specific areas in which your time and skills can help make LimaKids Programs more successful.

LimaKids welcomes help from those who are (or will be) living in Lima and looking for part-time volunteer work. Following are some of the areas in which your support can help our activities:

Short-Term Positions

Volunteer positions require a minimum commitment of 3 months so that volunteers can be fully integrated into LimaKids’ operational activities. Must have at minimum an intermediate level of Spanish. Support and guidance will be available from permanent staff members.

 1.      Local Volunteer Coordinator

Coordinate activities of other LimaKids volunteers from the US or other countries. Responsibilities include: identify potential volunteer activities, communicating with interested volunteers, and helping volunteers with logistic issues. Good for individuals with strong organizational, management, and communications skills.

 2.      Local Fundraising Assistant

With guidance from US and Peru-based LimaKids Directors, help develop and carry out fundraiser events for LimaKids in Peru. Events may range from benefit dinners to art exhibits. Assist during other fundraising events organized for LimaKids by partner institutions. Develop and foster links with local sources of publicity.  Write press releases.

 3.      Special Projects Assistants

a.      Photography Project Assistant

Work with our psychologist to develop a photography project with street children. Goals may include developing a course on photography for the children, as well as creating a collection of photos by the children and presenting them in local exhibits. Ideal for someone with a background in photography.

b.      Health Education Materials Development Assistant

Working closely with psychologist and medically trained personnel, assist with development of health education materials specifically for street children. These materials may be used for workshops at orphanages or during street clinic operation hours. Ideal for volunteers with background in education or health care. Must be interested in creating unique educational approaches.

              c.       Translation Assistant

Assist with translation of material from Spanish to English or English to Spanish, as needed. Examples include LimaKids communications materials, presentations, educational materials, and publicity materials. Must be fluent in both English and Spanish. Good writing skills.
