In the US

While much of our work takes place on the ground in Peru, activities in the US are extremely important for maintaining the growth and sustainability of our programs. All LimaKids staff in the US work on a voluntary basis and events are strictly not-for-profit.  Your time and skills are greatly appreciated.

 

One Time Activities

The following volunteer positions reflect our current needs and may develop into ongoing positions if desired.

    1.      Website consultant

Work with LimaKids webmaster to update and improve website features and functionality. Offer tutorials as needed on use of applications for development of website. Ideal for someone in the Boston-area. Hours: Flexible.

2.      Legal Advisor

Offer volunteer legal counsel and services with respect to obtaining 501(c)3 status.  Hours: Flexible

3.      Accounting Advisor

Offer volunteer accounting counsel and services for management of LimaKids finances once 501(c)3 status is obtained. Hours: Flexible

4.      Graphic Design Assistance

Assist in development of LimaKids publicity materials including creation of general brochures and individual program brochures. Hours: Flexible

 Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities

Ongoing volunteer positions require a minimum commitment of 3 months, so that volunteers can be more fully integrated into LimaKids’ operational activities in the US. Ample support and guidance will be available at all times from permanent staff members.

    1.      Special Events & Publicity Assistant

Help LimaKids US-based Directors develop and carry out fundraiser events for LimaKids in the US. Assist during other fundraising events organized for LimaKids by partner institutions. Develop and foster links with sources of publicity in the US. Write press releases. Good for individuals with strong organizational, management, and communications skills. Hours: Flexible

2.      Grants Writing Assistant

Assist Development Director with various aspects of the grant-seeking process including research and writing of grants. Experience with grant writing a plus. Hours: Flexible.

3.      Translation Assistant

Assist with translation of material from Spanish to English or English to Spanish, as needed. Examples include LimaKids communications materials, presentations, educational materials, and publicity materials. Must be fluent in both English and Spanish. Good writing skills. Hours: Flexible

    4.      Fishing for Smiles Assistant

Assist with development and marketing of Fishing for Smiles project in the United States. Assist with maintenance of Fishing for Smiles donor registries and ensure timely responses to donors. Coordinate with individual fishermen as well as Program Directors in Peru as necessary. Good organizational skills and salesmanship a plus. Hours: Flexible
