cloth made of textile yarns by combining them in a process that yields a large, contiguous structure. among possible processes, weaving, knitting, plaiting, knotting, and compression are used predominately. despite the apparently few fabric-making processes, a great variety of fabrics may be produced by slight variations during the process.
