Project Goals

To create a computationally efficient procedure that allows the user to determine (approximately) optimal service levels for purchased components in the presence of a budget constraint on the average on hand inventory. The methodology should be robust enough to accomodate the types of demand processes observed in practice.

Project Progress

An initial formulation of the problem was solved under several different scenarios for a small problem (4 end items, 6 components). The results were compared to an equal allocation policy using simulation and the results seem promising.
