Linking Infant Speech Perception to Word Learning
In this lecture, I will briefly review recent research on infant speech perception, how perceptual categories change as a function of listening experience - with a focus on distributional learning, and how these changing perceptual biases set the stage for word learning. The talk will attempt to bridge research in experimental psychology with issues in linguistic theory.
