Andrew Simpson received his Ph.D. from the University of London and teaches in the Department of Linguistics at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, England. His research interests centre on the comparative syntax of East and Southeast Asian languages, and his work addresses issues relating to processes of language change, DP-structure, the syntax of question formation, and the interaction of syntax with phonology. Selected publications include Wh-movement and the Theory of Feature-checking (John Benjamins); (with Zoe Wu) “Agreement, Shells and Focus,” in Language; and (with Tanmoy Bhattacharya) “Obligatory Overt Wh-Movement in a Wh- in situ Language,” in Linguistic Inquiry.
