Richard Kayne is Professor at New York University. His research interests include syntactic theory, comparative syntax, micro-comparative syntax, and Romance languages. He received the Ph.D. in Linguistics from MIT in 1969, the Docteur ès Lettres in Linguistics from the University of Paris VIII in 1976, and an honorary degree, the Doctorate honoris causa, from the University of Leiden, the Netherlands in 1995. His publications include French Syntax and The Antisymmetry of Syntax (both published by MIT Press) and Parameters and Universals (Oxford University Press).

Richard Kayne is the Sapir Professor of the 2005 LSA Institute.
