Technology
|
Over
the years, we have striven to keep up with cutting edge
technologies. |
|
-
we have progressed from hand-written research reports
to reports that are not only done with computer wordprocessing
but are also researched with a variety of methods, including
internet and cd-rom, as well as traditional in-library
resources.
-
we have progressed from low-memory LCII Macintosh computers
to PowerMacs and iMacs with multimedia capabilities.
-
we have progressed from analog cameras to include digital
video and still cameras.
-
we have progressed from analog videos roughly edited
in the camera, to analog videos edited with a VHS editing
processor, to converting analog videos to digital with
Avid Cinema, to digital videos edited with iMovie.
-
we have introduced students to computer graphics, animation,
website production, and CD-ROM production.
-
we have provided fieldtrips for exemplary students to
let them observe new technologies in action. These included
the Boston University Graduate School of Communication
and the Channel 7 TV studio in Boston.

At
present, we have 8 multimedia iMacs and 2 digital video
cameras in use by the 8th grades. The 7th grades are currently
using borrowed PowerMacs and 2 analog cameras. |
|
Our
wish list would have to include the possibility that the
7th grades could be upgraded to iMacs and digital cameras
as well.
