2.670: Intro to Machine Tools is a class at MIT where students learn about various tools in a machine shop by making a DC motor. There was a long period of time where students made a Sterling Engine, but that got too expensive, so they went with a cheaper option. Making the DC motor was okay, but a lot of the work was done for us; the students mostly just stood around in line and waited to press a start button on a CNC Mill.
