The MIT Medical Dental Service emphasizes preventive care
and patient education. Our services include general
dentistry, oral surgery, periodontics, bleaching, and
implants. For other specialties, we can refer you to dentists
in the community. Children under the age of 15 are referred
to local pediatric dentists.
Eligibility
Anyone who is eligible to use MIT Medical is eligible to use
the Dental Service, including members of MIT Health Plans;
MIT students, affiliates, and employees; employees of the
Draper Laboratory and Whitehead Institute; and spouses, same-sex
and opposite-sex spousal equivalents, and dependent children
age 15 or older.
Coverage
As with most health plans, routine dental care isn't covered
by the MIT Student Health Plan, MIT Affiliate Health Plan,
or Traditional or Flexible MIT Health Plans for employees.
A limited number of special procedures, however, are covered
by the Traditional and Flexible MIT Health Plans for employees,
the MIT Student Extended Insurance Plan, and the MIT Affiliate
Extended Insurance Plan. Please review your Summary Plan Description
or our Dental Service FAQs.
Payment Options
Delta
Dental Insurance covers many of our dental services, subject
to deductibles and co-payment. For other dental insurance
plans, we provide a standard claim form you can submit for
reimbursement.
We also accept Master Card, Visa, Discover, and personal
checks at the time of service. Alternatively, employees can
ask to be billed by MIT's Accounting Office, and students
can charge dental services to their Student Account statement.
