Your
machine MUST be properly set up for networking. It is important
to set the domain suffix under DNS to mit.edu:
- Go to
Start - Settings - Control Panel - Network.
- Select the
TCP/IP protocol. From here on what you need to do
is operating system dependent. You need to find the domain
suffix box and make sure that it has mit.edu entered
in it.
On a
Windows NT, 2000 machine make sure you have administrator privileges.
(Note that this has not been installed on a NT or Windows XP machine,
so currently this is unsupported if you have any problems.)
You must be connected to the network through a valid MIT
IP address. Do not even think about downloading over a modem
connection - you will be there forever.
You need
to mount the installation folder on the server as a drive on your
computer.
- Right-click
on My Computer and select "Map Network Drive..."
- Set Path:
\\18.80.0.100\UGS_18.
- Log on as
guest (no password) if asked.
Now,
you are ready to install.
