Administration and Staff

Fred MoavenzadehFred Moavenzadeh, James Mason Crafts Professor of Engineering, is Director of the Technology and Development Program (currently on leave) and the President of the Masdar Institute of Science and Technology. His current interests include technology and development with a focus on formulation of technological policies for socioeconomic development. He is particularly interested in institutional structures required to develop a viable science and technology infrastructure that could serve the human resource development strategy of newly industrialized nations.

As director of TDP since 1973, Professor Moavenzadeh has been involved in a variety of interdisciplinary research and capacity building activities throughout Southeast Asia, East Asia, Africa, South America, and the Middle East.

 

Nazli Choucri Nazli Choucri, TDP Associate Director, is a Professor of Political Science. Her research focuses on interdisciplinary analysis of globalization and international politics with an emphasis on the potential for conflict at national, regional, and global levels. She has worked on problems related to the world oil market, energy and development, population dynamics and technology transfer. Professor Choucri is the Director of MIT's Global System for Sustainable Development (GSSD), a multi-lingual web-based knowledge networking system focusing on sustainability challenges.
