In which our heroes set up the massive Santa Vallandran Trade Empire...

Orhan 2 Day 5 TE 6062

Imre goes to talk to Gireg Jan about Koran Mas. The warlocks of Itannis must tell the truth and if they ever betray anyone their crystals will shatter. He is of course therefore ideally positioned to betray the city.

Oathar goes to the Barge Inn and looks around for Andraax. He sits down and starts talking to Oathar. He starts asking if Oathar wants to join a secret society. We only admit those who are of the proper disposition and lineage.

Orhan 2 Day 7 TE 6062

There's a knock at the door. The man in the dark cloak shows up to test us. Are we ready for the testing? Imre invites him in but he decided to wait outside. Imre comes to get us. We decide to go get tested. He blind foldus and walks us through the streets.

When we take our blindfolds off we're in a warehouse of some sort. Sitting there in a chair is a man. "Greetings, my name is Morpheus." He offers us red pills and a blue pills. We take the red pills. We fall asleep.

We wake up outside, blindfolded, and are told it is time to face the trials. First is the leap of faith. We get shuffled over and told to leap off the building, if we have faith we will survive. We jump and fall a foot. You have passed the first test.

Then we are led down stairs and into a room. The next trial! The test of perseverance. There are two lines of people on either side of us. In front of us, it's pretty warm. We are instructed to make the walk of fire. Oathar strides across with his ring, Haeraan with his concentration, Kyrik with his Ignore elements, and Imre runs fast with hurting feet. They confer and decide to pass Imre this time.

Next is the test of endurance and we are told to remove our armor. Imre and Oathar cast Resist Damage and walk through. We do it twice. Then again. You have passed and take off your blindfolds!

We see the members of the Ancient and Sacred Order of the Stonecutters. Gireg Jan is there too. LET THE PARTY BEGIN!!! The Prince is a stonecutter, and several of his ministers, and all the guildmasters, and several council members, etc.

We are now officially members of the upper class mens party circuit. We get Stonecutter rings and the secret handshakes. Everyone gets a number. There's a sacred scroll and a rock of victory and a rock of shame. After the party gets going there are exotic dancers, and the like. Turns out there's a monthly party.

Orhan 2 Day 8 TE 6062

There's a knock at the door. It's a message for the Lord Admiral. Imre invites him in to deliver the message. He's sorry to report that one of the ships was lost hitting a reef off Zinvar. All hands were lost. The cargo is pretty lost too. Yeah, it's a cursed island, time to write it off. Oh well. But no! Oathar does not write off cargo so easily! He gets the party together and they prepare to sail on the next tide. Meanwhile Imre chats up the sailor looking for morale problem among Oathar's sailors.

They sail off. Oathar tells them to head towards Danarchis. Then they turn towards Zinvar...

Orhan 2 Day 13 TE 6062

There's a waygrog party that night. The next day, they find the wreck of the other doomed ship. We row over to the wreckage and see what's salvagable.

We find a couple of bodies and some ruined cargo. Some small amount of cargo is recovered, but it's pretty bad.

While searching the wreckage, Kyrik and Oathar are savaged by sharks! We're left to the boat and then the boat start rowing back towards the ship.

Imre recognizes this shoreline from his books of maps. He points towards the X. We follow the path. We get to a large mound (hill). Haerran's finely honed barrow sense determines that a barrow-wight is within. We search for a way in. Haeraan finds the way and gives us the barrow wight briefing. AT1 DB 90, takes large crits.

Oathar unearths the stuff in front of the door. Then it's locked. Imre undoors the door. Then it's gone. Haeraan charges in and there's a barrow wight. Combat! Except there's no combat because Imre blows up the Barrow Wight with his cleric powers as the first action in snap. Haeraan sips from his bitter cup.

Inventory of the treasure: 5000 gold, 2 large amphorae (vases), several sets of silverware with gold trim, magic humidor with a pile of 100 year old cigars, magic flag which displays your appropriate symbol - always visible to you and your allies, morale and leadership bonus.

We also find cursed/evil stuff: 2 scimitars, a whip and a shortsword.

We search around and find some tracks heading towards the port. In the city Oathar hears a tiny sound that's slightly insectoid, but no one else hears it. We see vague webbing and stuff on buildings though so Haeraan and Imre make fauna lore rolls and decide the webbing is much thicker and tougher than spider webs.

The tracks lead deep into the ruined city with lots of webs. In an open area it is filled with webs. At the far end are 8 big white man sized cocoons. Oathar leaves them over to himself and we start cutting one open. We find the cocoons are AT20 DB 50 with 100 hits. Imre tries his tear spells, and it opens up revealing one of Oathar's sailors.

The insectoid sound returns, so we teleport 4 of the cocoons to the beach. Then the 7 foot tall insectoid things show up. Bug people. Haeraan realizes they are the Kaeden stand as monsterous aberations from the first era named after Kaedena. They're like shards and the N'eng. This is really not good. It's quite bad. We hope we survive.

People try to keep them off of Oathar while he teleport evacs people to the beach. It's mostly successful and Oathar gets the cocooned guys out. Then the Kaeden pull out their horrible cocooning attacks. Things are tense and then we teleport out.

We flee in terror grabbing our coccoons and treasure we flee the island.

Flee! Flee! Flee!

Orhan 2 Day 23 TE 6062

We visit Gireg Jan. The Kaeden are on Zinfar! The Althans were masters of technology. Gireg Jan speculates there was a Kaeden in a stasis box somewhere and it was released on the island. Now they are multiplying.
