In which our heroes ...
Orhan 2 Day 56 TE 6062
Imre goes shopping for something for Nusmoi. They have ivory here which
is fairly rare elsewhere.
Oathar goes to the temple of Shaal. It has a little side chapel to Neela.
It's not very well kept. Oathar replaces the candles and then prays. When
he prays, Neelas altar lights up. Coins placed on the altar vanish. So
Oathar puts 100 gold on the altar. He talks to the priest of Shaal about
the conditions he found in the shrine. The priest mostly blows him off
saying the acolytes take care of the altar. Oathar asks to talk to the
high priest. The high priest examines the glowing altar and then Oathar
and says, "So she's chosen one, has she." Oathar give the high
priest 25 gold for use in maintaining the shring and places another 25
on the altar which vanishes. The high priest whistles to himself and is
clearly appraising. Oathar asks if one of the acolytes was considering
pledging himself to Neela when he took his vows. The high priest hums
and haws and rushes off to get some poor acolyte. Oathar drops the hammer
of Neela on the poor guy and Neela shines a beam of light down on him
from Orhan, and his eyes are opened. The high priest and the other priest
sense that things are about to change he in the temple. Not necessarily
for their benefit. Oathar gives Brian the Acolyte 50 gold for use in Neela's
service and heads off smug.
Alynna arrives on the ship via navigator jump. She spouts heresy when
asking why we are all the way out here: "It just seems we have more
important things to do than build up wealth." Even given her crazed
attitudes, Oathar welcomes her back, but doesn't do a good job telling
her what we're up to, since she's not interested in the wealth part. Kyrik
gives her her laen lens and she powers up her boots.
Oathar sends his sailors out to talk about Neela in the bars that night.
Orhan 2 Day 66 TE 6062
After days of sailing around not spotting land, we discover the Black
wall at the end of the world. It's obviously cursed. We turn around. Oathar
looks suspiciously at his navigator sister, but she protests her innocence.
Orhan 3 Day 1 TE 6062
We arrive at the archipelego off the coast of Follen. We sail up to an
island in an attempt to establish our final beachhead. We pick a small
rocky spit with sand and rocks and some scrub. We name the island, "The
island". We build a little shelter and set up our teleport point.
Orhan 3 Day 2 TE 6062
We send the cargo ship home, and prepare to brave the wind storms! We
sail around to the northeast corner and then dive in. Kyrik instructs
us to tie the wind flute to the mast. We do this thing....
Oathar gives a speech to the men and then we head in!
Oathar casts Weather Prediction. The next 48 hours: intermittent death,
with occasional death showers, broken by death out of the south.
It's dark and cloudy as we sail to Follen. We hear the rumbling of thunder
and then the horror of the blade wind. It's quite a show, but the flute
does indeed get us through. The pennant atop the staff gets shredded.
The top most sails have bits of metal stuck in them. A piece of dull metal
his Haeraan but falls safely to the ground. Glowing metal shards hits
Alynna and Kyrik, and falls to the ground. A piece flies at Oathar who
attempts to catch it. A magic dagger embeds itself in his hand. Oathar
takes a 16 E puncture breaking his wrist. A glowing, crackling Main Gauche,
glowing with vast power, flies at Imre. Imre dodges it, taking only a
40 E puncture, C electricity. It crackles with power....
Oathar seems to have received a glowing +20 dagger, will long door to
my hand once a day. Imre seems to have a +25 Main Gauche, double concussion
damage, with an additional electicity crit two levels lower.
In the future we can take up to a plus 10 or -10 on our roll when going
through the blade storm. We pull up to the land. The boat is a tad damaged
and in need of repair. There's a bay ahead, we pull in and attempt to
anchor the boat. The party takes the long boat in. We step upon the shores
of Follen! Yay!
We stay the night on the beach to get a teleport point (that we dare
not use).
Orhan 3 Day 3 TE 6062
We troop off to the south and come upon the signs of civilization. Oathar
examines it through his spyglass. Village. In the center are wooden buildings,
nothing over two stories. Mostly thached mud though. We head on in.
A local talks in broken Shay. Wacky. Kyrik interrogates him. We tell
him we are adventurers. He tries to put the fear of Follen into us. We'll
get killed chasing after the vast wealth just in the mountains. The big
mountain of gold and gems. Adventurers always chase it and then get killed.
Imre does some healing in the village before we head on. They show us
the special "adventurer's section" of the graveyard to try and
dissuade us. They say Leeroy Jenkins is buried there.
We spend the night in the village and then head towards the city to the
south.
Orhan 3 Day 4 TE 6062
We approach the city. It's got a stone wall around it. There are little
bits of metal embedded in the wall every now and then. No buildings over
two stories. We talk to the guards. "Welcome to Sanctus, Please obey
the local laws." They seem to be the usual laws.
Kyrik doesn't find a library. Imre get a local pickpocket to be our guide.
He takes is the temple regions. We find a temple of Eissa, Moralas, and
Cay. Oathar and Alynna head to the temple of Cay. The temple seems to
be wealthy. Alynna leaves a 50 gold piece offering. She asks a priest
for information about the local area. They are mostly trying to support
those who would take up arms in defense of the colonies. Their main enemies
are the barbarians from the wild, and various foul creatures. Evil mostly
comes from inland. Fould demons from beyond the pale occasionally. Then
there are of course agents of the unlife. They like it here because it
is a land of testing. He confirms that the jewel wells do indeed exist.
They are points of contention and very difficult to plunder. Many powers
seek to control and manipulate them. He says that we would be surprised
by what we can jus tpick up off the ground. The temple can not provide
us with a map of the desert sadly. The Steel rain (another branch of the
unlife like the iron wind.) Cover is recommended. He says many people
swear they've seen the mountain of gold, but no one has ever returned
with a mountain of gold.
Imre, Kyrik, and Haeraan head into the temple of Eissa for Imre's traditional
absolution. Imre attempts to speak to the high priestess without telling
anyone why. She goes to get the high priestess. A little angel of death
pops out of the back of temple, and greets him. They called her to come
get him, but the angel of death doesn't get him. Then the high priestess
rushes out to talk to him. He asks for maps inland, but they don't leave
the temple much and so can't help him. Inland is death apparently. Filled
with the undead and agothu and all kinds of stuff. They do know that there
is one main pass through the mountains to the desert beyond. Follow the
coast down to the river and then folow the river inland until it goes
through the pass. But be warned, it is a river of death. The jewel knights
draw their power from the jewel wells.
