Orhan 3 Day 35 TE 6064

More raves, more partying on the lam, and more trying to sack Arakin on behalf of the general. About 500 troops report from Niev in the first wave. Haeraan and Imre convince Oathar to send down Unicorn and Wyvern companies to help.

Orhan 3 Day 36 TE 6064

Alynna and Oathar go on a mission to secure the Arakin ancient munitions dump. Sadly, it's already been secured by the Ardanians. They do a lot of dancing around, but can't keep all the Ardanian guards in the dark for very long.

They acquire:

• 1 case of blaster power packs w/2 blaster
• 1 case of hand grenades
• several cases of advanced first aid kits (heal patches and drugs)
• pistol like thing with a bunch of discs (subcutaneous tracker injector)
• subcutaneous tracker boxes (x6) like from aliens
• a bunch of crates of MREs

They destroy the rest with flames. When the warehouse goes up, the Ardanian go to full alert. Then they go to investigate the missing generals. They scout out the defenses on the palace and decide to regroup rather than press their luck.

Alynna goes to Haalkataine to look for Kyrik, there is a reward for the safe rescue of princess Tatiana. Reward for the capture of her kidnapper, Kyrik, dead or alive.

Alynna finds Kyrik and tells him about the 20,000 gold reward.

Oathar contacts Nimble, and gets a download on Arakin. You need an ID card, dailypassword, and auillurary information to get into any place sensitive. They're pretty riled up since the warehouse blew up. There are about 600 of them now. Soon after the takeover, and airbarge showed up, dropped off some more people, and took away a huge crate thing. The bad guys think that their substantial reinforcements are coming over the cloud pass and should be here in two days. There have been odd whispers about the heir to the old katra returning, etc. But there are too many rumors to actually decide what's what. The Ardanians do have interrogation squads going around trying to find out what's up with teh prince, or rebels, or secret entrances, etc.

Tatiana shows up with Kyrik and Alynna, and she monopolizes Haeraan, asking to see the troops. Kyrik and Tatiana go to scout the opposing forces. Good thing too, since Tatiana is the only one who can see.

Haeraan tries to size up the general, while Oathar prepares a storm to delay reinforcements. The General requests that the storm pass south of the city and then hammer the pass. "Give me as much as you can manage." (Oh the poor fool.)

Oathar goes to the appropriate ritual site given the targetting coordinates, and Kyrik, Alynna, and Tatiana go to bodyguard him. After much rigamarole, he does the ritual of storms sacrificing 1000 gold, 513 power points, 1 fate point.

The perfect storm starts rising... The horizon grows dim. At the ritual site, there is a small patch of blue directly above, and then a bunch of clouds start swirling around it... The humidity rises. There are solid clouds on all horizons. Lightning and thunder continue.

The general moves his troops to the high ground.

People become concerned when meteors start raining down from the sky.

Oathar hears a voice in his head. It's the storm wizard, "What is going on!" Oathar says, "I summoned a storm to slow the advancing Ardanian army." He then sees a satellite picture with a storm circle 1/4 of the size of the sea of Votania. "This is not a storm, the essence flows across the continent have been disrupted. The essence nexus that normally circles Votania has moved. You are responsible?" Oathar: "Yes." Stormwizard: "Unfortunate."

"What was your purpose?" "To delay the Ardanian Army advancing on Arakin from arriving for several more days." "Several days? They might survive a day." "If you ever do this again on this continent, you must consult me first. I must commence mitigation."

Now there is rain in sheets and hail with several funnel clouds moving around, lightning as far as the eye can see to the south. Meteors continue to rain down into the hurricane.

50 mph wind. Rain is sheets. Tree branches falling. Frogs falling from the sky. Lightning strikes continue in teh south, moving northward. Low lying areas are flooding. We don't know how bad it gets after that becuase vilibility goes to zero. Darkvision and Watervision are necessary to see anything at all. Spells all cost 1 less power point and cause extra little spark to appear when cast.

The occasional small tree and many poor hapless animals fly by now and then. The lightning gets closer. (A few miles away.)

75 mph winds. All tents blow away. People holding onto the ground. Whole tree fly by. 1/2 the size of the sea of Votania.

Tatiana love the mass chaos.

At this point little balls of ball lightning start flying around. They appear and move around and then vanish. Haeraan: "Oathar! What have you done!" Alynna: "The Loremasters will kill us."

80 mph winds. Lightning is starting to strike around the camp. Meteors are being blow by the wind overhead. Supply wagons get hit by lightning. A number of the General's hrses get blown away and there is chaos in the supply train.

85 mph winds. Large trees and medium sized stones are now flying by. Animals from various far off locations are flying across teh landscape. The remnants of several farms fly by. Cows can now fly. Pigs have been flying for a while now. Army guys are crawling for cover. Most tents are gone, but they are rolling themselves in sheets and lying in the water.

90 mph winds. Haeraan manages to barely avoid getting blown away. No tents left. Supply wagons flipped over. Horses mostly gone. Lightning strikes continuing.

A flaming meteor is now flying down on the camp. It looks like it's going to hit. Kyrik can't take it any more and attempts to teleport himself, Oathar, the griffin, and Tatiana out. Just before he teleports, he notices that all power is being drawn into the center of the storm. He aborts the teleport. Alynna tries to merge into the earth.

A lone figure materializes on the edge of the camp. Haeraan sees him, but can't identify. The figure holds up his hands. They glow. The meteor comes down slowly, slower, and then stops about five feet before impact. Slowly it starts rising and then heads off into the distance. Andraax turns around, marches over to Haeraan, unaffected by the wind and offers him a hand. "Come." They walk over to the rest of the party. "Enough of this." He casts a spell and the wind is halved and the rain start letting up. He says, "Let's not do this again."

"Do you remember the date?" Everyone says, "Orhan 3 Day 8 6063" "Good." He vanishes.

The storm wizard images in Oathar's head disappear. As it fades away it says, "That's what I meant by mitigation."

Then it's a regular storm and everyone is cold and miserable for the rest of the night. Kyrik and his wife resist elements.

Orhan 3 Day 37 TE 6064

The next morning, everything is a mess. The supply train is done. Casualties were small, but everything is waterlogged. We were on high ground so no one drowned. Its cloudy but the storm is done locally.

Kyrik dries his griffen and then they fly to scout what happened to Arakin and the Ardanian army.

In Arakin, the docks are destroyed. (Gone.) The sea wall is gone. Half of the houses in town sustained damage. Extensive flooding. It's not pretty. Some pieces of the outer wall are looking weak. No compelte sections are gone, but chunks are taken out all over. Up in the pass where the Ardanian army was supposed to be: Well, the pass is gone. It's impassible. Lower regions are washed out. Upper areas froze over from the giant hail storm. 6-inch ice chunks fell. There is no army. It's gone.

Alynna: "Dude. Your body count just shot way over Imre's."

Oathar: "Well, once Imre hears about this, he'll add one more to his."

Oathar goes to the High Temple of Neela. The high priestess of Neela: "It's as if the hand of Neela had turned into the hand of Shaal. Hundreds of voices cried out in horror, and then were silenced." Shaal thinks maybe he misjudged Oathar. Perhaps he's a good influence on Neela after all. Oathar promises to do pennace for acidentally killing hundreds in Neela's name and heads off.

It's going to take a couple of days to get the general's army to the city due to the lousy road conditions.

Orhan 3 Day 38 TE 6064

At Nimble and Whisper's safehouse. They instantly realize this is Oathar's fault. They have no idea what's going on with the Ardanian's, as they are barely managing to get by. Come back tomorrow.

Orhan 3 Day 41 TE 6064

The general's army arrive at the city and an envoy under the flag of truce comes out. Haeraan watches the negotiations. After a bit, the general accepts their surrender. They will give up their arms and be given free conduct back to Ardania. The Ardanian troops look demoralized and wide eyed.

Arakin is restored to the general, but the harbor is gone, lot's of damage neds to be repaired, etc. He asks us to send some representative down to sign a mutual defense pact in a week or so.

He's willing to work out some joint military exercises with us, and talk about future negotiations.

Perhaps it all worked out for the best. We got the city back without a fight, and the general needs a lot of time to rebuild before he can cause any trouble.
