Session 29

In which our heroes ...

Orhan 3 Day 18 TE 6052

We travel to Lethys where a ship from an Oathas company meets us. As we pass through Halkataine, we find that a coronation date has not been set yet, as they want to finish with the Northern border first. Many forces are being sent home from the front to deal with crops. The Blue Mermaid arrives! It's a two masted cargo ship already filled with food stuff and finished goods. (Mining supplies, weapons, etc.)

The first mate meets me on the dock. They start resuppling for a few hours. Oathar remembers that we are supposed to be sailing to the northern coast of the continent to Kelfour's Landing. A happy place surrounded by orcs and the cults of the spider goddess. Complete with blood sacrifices.

Orhan 3 Day 33 TE 6052

We're off. Oathar expertly maneuvers the ship out of port and into the currents. Then he goes to see to his guests. The party is in quarters with the rest of the sailors. Oathar kicks the chiefs out of their cabin for the ladies. The menfolk sleep with the crew. Oathar has a small cabin. Complete with bird perch. Haeraan tries to pace the decks during the night.

We try to decide between the the coastal route (pirates), and the deep water route (monsters, storms). We decide to take the ocean routes.

Orhan 3 Day 36 TE 6052

We're sailing off to the deep waters. Navigation isn't so bad. After a few days, the winds pick up. "Port is left because it has a 'T' in it." There's some goofy navigation things. After a couple days, a watch reports, "Disturbance ahead." Somehow, the ship doesn't come equipped with a spyglass. After a few few days, a whirlpool appears in our path. We turn to starboard and attempt to move around it. Something is approaching from the opposite direction! Oathar's bird flys out and says it's a ship. Running a black flag with white markings. Haeraan identifies is as the flag of a landlocked Halkataine barony. The ship is damaged, the mainmast is down. The rear mast has a black flag with a white swan. The navigator identifies it as the flag of the famous pirate, "The white swan". He runs a fleet of pirate ships and is known for always taking captives and is always willing to ransom them. The bird doesn't see people aboard.

We turn towards the boat. Haeraan, Kyrik, and two competent sailors beam over to the ship. On our side, we start madly readying ropes.

Haeraan and Kyrik find the brig. Kyrik finds some loot and a new spyglass. There are too many cells, Haeraan and Kyrik decide to get D.

The docking maneuver goes well and all the ropes hold. Oathar gets his ship's crew doing stuff like mad, and is setting the sails on the other ship from here with his magic.

D. moves to the other ship with her unspeakable talents. (She tightrope walks across the tow ropes between ships.)

Meanwhile, down below, Haeraan finds about 20 cells around 10 of which he hears sounds out of. He starts bashing doors open, waiting for D. to come unchain them.

D. examines the sailors. They were from the Horizon. Their ship was captured and burned, and they were taken prisoner by the pirates. They were transporting a noble worman from Danarchis, that city we visited once.

Meanwhile Kyrik is rescuing the noblewoman and her lackey Lucy. The noblewoman gets confused by Imre and his holy symbol. "Hello miss, er... young man, er miss..."

Down there, they find the captain of the Horizon. They had cargo and one of the ladies of one of the leading families of Danarchis. He tells the tale of the massive storm, possibly even an essense storm. The pirates were mostly washed overboard.

Oathar has is first officer go aboard and strike the swans colors and raise up our own. Woo hoo! So flies the Black Raven!

D. begins a massive looting operation. They find a chest of wands. Among the loot (silk, wine, incense, etc.), D. finds a chest of 12 wands. A very nice rapier, two potions, 25 gold about. Kyrik's chest has about 50 gold. Kyrik's chest has a false bottom, but he's scared of it, so he doesn't look inside. D. finds the poison needle trap. Imre give her some resist poison which is lucky since she fail to disarm the trap and gets stabbed. Imre neutralized the poisons, so there seemed to be no serious effect. D. opens the false bottom. It's lined in black velvet with four flat cut gemstones: red, blue, green, and white. Woo hoo! We get all their charts and maps.

Burial ceremonies for the dead pirates, "Go into the realm of Shaal and don't come back! We mean it, no being undead!"

Orhan 3 Day 66 TE 6052

We spend three weeks sailing back. The noblewoman is a pain in the neck. Her servant Lucy scurries around a lot. Oathar has some talks with the Horizon's Captin Kipp, an older guy of fair experience. They were going from Danarchis to Lethys, but fled westwards from the pirates. They weren't fast enough, so got run down. We arrive in Kelfour's Landing.

The emerald is mentalism, the saphire has essence, the ruby has channeling, the diamond has all three. Attunement reveals that the essense gem has a couple of powers. By peering through the gem, it's a detect essence spell. We need to study them to get further powers.
