Session 343

In which our heroes ...

Orhan 4 Day 54 TE 6065

Haeraan identifies the members of the future underground, but it seems clear that the Alliance deal is on rails.

Kyrik tries to get a membership in the Lys library. Stuff about the great portal of Lys are all in the restricted section.

Oathar checks "So You Think You're A Ritual Master Now" out of the library.

Alynna makes an appointment with the ritual master elf. She's off fishing now so won't be available in a month. Check todo list.

Alynna purchases a small villa in Lys. She can have citizenship in a week.

Haeraan goes on a grand tour of southwest Emir. Komaran cluster and Baerelis have both not heard anything official from the Alliance. In Itanis, the official delegation of the Alliance is hold up in the palace undergoing intensive negotiations.

Orhan 4 Day 55 TE 6065

Haeran gets a letter of introduction from Kaitaine to the Kaitaine ambassador to Itanis.

Kaitaine's ambassador to Itanis is not surprised at the situation in Vajar, it's a lost cause. On the other hand, he thinks Itanis is negotiationg to see what the best deal they can get is, and then they'll decide if it's acceptable.

Haeraan tries to get the warlocks of Itanis to go to his secret base if they decide to abandon their island to the alliance.

Orhan 4 Day 56 TE 6065

Alynna tries to speak to the Loremaster in Lys. Apparently, the regular loremaster is away for the moment, but they've got his temporary replacement here. Saen Alyster is the replacement. Half Loar/Half Highman. Alynna has heard he's one of the up and coming young loremasters. He got captured by the unlife, and escaped, so the loremasters sent him here to recuperate. It's a cushy job.

He's been here only 6 months. He's from Rakhan. She chats with him for a while.

The ward keeps out everyone but Eilar. He thinks the portal of Lys has not been in operation for 1000s of years. It's called a Bakuul Portal. It was designed to open a portal to the pales from the time of the wars of dominion. The elves sealed it away. It's pretty inaccessable at the moment. It rumbles a little when the comet comes by. They're talking about getting kregora or shipping it off. He thinks it's about as safe here as any place else.

Orhan 4 Day 57 TE 6065

Haeraan and Oathar discuss Oathar's mad plan to save Kaitaine through a giant ritual.

Haeraan talks to his Kaitaine order about the Oathar plan and finds it tricky but theoretically possible politically.

Oathar talks to Nusmoi about the Eissa runs Norek plan. Apparently a mysterious stranger told them they needed to do something to activate the orb of rebirth, which caused them to make a great sacrifice to the god or rebirth and thus Eissa. The orb protected the city through the wars of dominion.

Orhan 4 Day 58 TE 6065

We regroup and discuss.

Oathar gets out the mirror of not sould trapping and asks it to tell him where the compasses of the alliance comes from. Water. Lapping at the shore of a beach. Behind that is a forest. Into the forest a bit, we zoom up and see an empty clearing. Then it shimmers and we see a big structure there. There's a diar appear out of nothingness, takes a compass and teleports away. Behind in the forest there a whooshing sound and another.

Yup, shards. At least Kyrik figured out where that is.

Imre goes to buy stinky potions to deal with shards. They only have two in stock. They give Imre a list of ingredients.

The key ingredient is a small arctic flower. Only found in the tundra. (Usually surrounded by the Iron Wind.)

Imre declares that the flowers (Ice Thorn) only open at the height of summer and when the fall winds come they collapse and die. Sigh.

Examining the known world, we find 1 more scentlessness potion. In Kaitaine, Oathar finds no scentlessness potions or Ice thorn, but they might be able to get someone who knows someone who can point us at some. Oathar gets referred to an old herbalist named Mother Meera. She knows someone who might, and refers me to a helpful young man with no name she can remember but an address. On the front it says Loremaster Kedric Bularis. Oathar thinks he's a cleric of Kuor. He weilds the Staff of Taaag, which casts any of the six 50th level sorceror base lists spells, six times a month. It's also a x6 PPM for Sorceror, Cleric, or Mage. It turns out, he's pretty pro-Alliance, so Oathar has to talk really fast. A gratuitous fate point later, he is given three potions of scentlessness.

Having scoured the world, we now have 6 scentlessness potion.

Imre is jealous of the staff.

Haeraan goes shopping for stinky bombs. Heck, let's scour the world again. We end up with 9 stinky bombs.

Orhan 4 Day 59 TE 6065

Oathar goes to Karilon. and searches for lost armadas in the literature. He finds the Fleet of the Damned. It was sent out by Kadaena to attack her enemies and it was repulsed and when they came back and reported failure to Kadaena, she cursed them, and they turned into the Black Ships of the Damned. Needless to say, he doesn't find what he was seeking for.

Imre goes to Nomikos and looks up the same thing. He finds references to Aldoron sending a fleet to explore Folenn, but it was never actaully heard from again. It's really unclear what happened to it.

Sadly, Imre thinks that plan is doomed, doomed, doomed. Very very doomed.

OK, Oathar explains his alternate backup plan about grabbing Zorian troops just before the cataclysm. After all, no one will miss them. Imre considers this carefully and declares:

"The quest is on the edge of a knife, stray but a little."
