Leaves and Other Objects

In the final holograms, a variety of objects were used as models: handmade paper, stiffened silk, commercially made leaves that were stiffened, and natural ingredients such as tree trunks and bark. All of these models still required significant testing before the holograms could be made. Connors would test the models for movement and then stiffen them further if needed using wire or glue. Frequently, this required a waiting period of 7-8 hours for the glue to settle before a second test could be performed.
