Research and Development

Much of the research conducted involves the integration of material properties and structural design defined in the millimeter-nanometer range to engineer state-of-the-art medical platforms capable of achieving very fine-tuning of specific therapeutic or diagnostic functions for a wide number of clinical applications. These applications include the use of low power and battery-less MEMS devices for cardiac conditions, cancer treatment, orthopedics, and emergency and trauma situations. Moreover, passive biodegradable and nano-particle drug delivery systems are being created for use in cardiac applications, cancer treatment and early cancer diagnostics. Furthermore, battery-less bioassays and low-power MEMS could be used as implantable biopsies and ex vivo biomarkers in addition to being able to quickly diagnose infectious diseases.
