Using the Vensim® Model Reader, the downloaded model can be simulated to generate the results as stated in the paper. This page attempts to briefly illustrate the use of the Model Reader. For further help with Model Reader, please refer to the "Help" function in the program.

• Install the Model Reader after downloading.
• Load the downloaded model from the Main Menu using the Load Model button. The extension of the model file should be "*.vmf".
• You may familiarize yourself with the physical structure of the model using the Review Model Structure button.
• Simulate the Model button moves you to the Scenario Setup screen in preparation for performing a simulation run.
  • In the Scenario Setup screen, choose the New Scenario button and choose an appropriate scenario name according to the scenarios given in tables below.
  • The constants that should be changed are given in the tables below. Click on Make changes to model constants and make the changes.
    It is also a good idea to save these changes to a changes file (filename.cin) through the Save changes made to a .cin file button. You will be able to retrieve these changes via the .cin file when you run a new simulation. Useful if you want to make a large number of changes in a simulation run, and base other runs on this run.
  • Simulate the Model button runs the simulation and creates a dataset (with the file extension .vdf).
• The Analysis Control screen allows you to analyze model structure and analyze the results of simulations (datasets, or runs).
  • Using the button Display a predefined graph or report, you can view predefined graphs or reports in the model.
  • It is recommended that one make use of the various other functions provided in Vensim® Model Reader. This will aid the understanding of the results.
