A 21st CENTURY LEARNING FUTURE
Abstract - Given the speed of change, the explosion of information, and the endless new mobile and social technologies, the possibilities for learning have never been greater. In this talk, I will discuss what the learning landscape that could be, given new tools and participatory-learning approaches. Social searching, science storytelling, and place-based learning will be explored. Live demonstrations of example tools will be presented. The goal of this talk is not to predict the future, but prepare for it. *Bio* Allison Druin is Chief Futurist for the University of Maryland's Division of Research and is a Professor in the iSchool and a researcher in the Human-Computer Interaction Lab. As the University's first Chief Futurist, she works with faculty throughout campus on research strategic planning and partnership development. In her own research, for over 15 years, she has led design teams of children, computer scientists, educators and more to develop new educational technologies for children with co-design methods.
