Highlighted Project:
Mapping Controversies
An STS course examines contested results in scientific research. Building on the work of Bruno Latour, Prof Lepinay and Dr Paravel's course has students map the ensuing controversies.
The course's centerpiece is its dynamic web-directory, pointing towards recommended research tools. Designed to evolve with subsequent contributions, the web-directory will be a sustainable repository reflecting the field's collective intelligence.
Engineers and scientists of the 21st century must develop an understanding of the political and social dimensions underlying their work. We believe these skills are fundamental to an MIT education, not peripheral.
– Professor Vincent Lepinay
