4.4.2 Rendzinous Soil

This soil is dark, alkaline, shallow, and loamy with a high infiltration rate. Characterized by a crumb structure, rendzinous soil usually contains residual rock fragments. Rendzinous or (rendzina) is one of the types of residual soil deposits which form as a result of the corrosive weathering of limestone, dolomite, or marble. The boundary between soil and underlying rock is sharp.
