Principal Practice Areas

David Suski joined MIT as Counsel in the Office of the General Counsel in September 2012. Mr. Suski is the on-site legal advisor for MIT’s Lincoln Laboratory and serves as the MIT/OGC advisor for legal matters affecting the Lab and its personnel.  At Lincoln Laboratory, he works closely with the Lab’s Technology and Contracts Office and focuses on contractual issues arising out of the Lab’s national defense research.  Additionally, he is the Lab’s advisor for ethical and export control compliance matters, as well as legal issues affecting Lab personnel.  At MIT, Mr. Suski’s responsibilities include providing advice on the Institute’s general business affairs, regulatory matters, and Institute governance, particularly in the areas of export controls and contracts.

Before joining MIT, Mr. Suski served as an Assistant General Counsel at the CIA.  At the Agency, Mr. Suski developed significant expertise in the areas of national security law, government contracts, administrative law, government ethics, and congressional affairs.  Mr. Suski provided legal advice on the conduct of Agency intelligence operations and is an expert in the areas of electronic surveillance law and the legal aspects of covert action.  He also handled civil and criminal litigation in coordination with the Department of Justice and served as the Chair of the Office of General Counsel’s hiring subcommittee. 

Mr. Suski began law practice with the Washington, D.C. offices of the law firm Hale and Dorr L.L.P. (now WilmerHale L.L.P.).  At Hale and Dorr David was an Associate in the firm’s Food and Drug Law Practice Group.  His practice focused on medical device and biologic regulation, as well as international regulatory regimes affecting medical products.

Mr. Suski graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law where he was a member of the Virginia Law Review’s Editorial Board, an Articles Editor of the Virginia Journal of International Law, and a Dillard Fellow.  Prior to law school, he earned a B.A. and an M.A. from Catholic University.
