The goal of Hephaestus is to produce a process willingly applied by DCNS development staff, which provides repeatable, structured development practices, resulting in efficient and orderly methods of making products which are adequately defined, maintainable, supportable, and well documented. This process should foster better knowledge distribution and communication at the same time.
There are two main deliverables for achieving this goal:
The Hephaestus User Document A document detailing a scalable development process for supportable products.
The Hephaestus Implementation Plan A plan for the implementation, maintenance, and user support of the process, including a description of the foundations required for its proper function and a list of other processes that will need to be defined to round out support for the entire product lifecycle.
The Hephaestus Process is not intended to be all inclusive; there are several phases of the product lifecycle that are not covered by it. See section 2.1 for details.
