West Garage closes for the Summer The West Garage will close for maintenance on Monday, June 9 and is expected to re-open in mid-August.Current West Garage occasional parkers may park in the West Annex Lot or any gated parking facility in the North Area. Current regular permit holders may park in the 219 Vassar Street Lot (west side of W59), the 252 Albany Street Lot (across from NW35), or any North Area parking facility. New parking meter rates Starting the second week of April, 2008, parking meter rates in Harvard Square and Kendall Square will increase. One of the reasons for the new rates is to increase turnover at the parking meters. The increase should: discourage people from parking at a meter all day; allow each space to be used by multiple parkers; and allow patrons to park while shopping or visiting the businesses in the areas. The new rates will be: $0.25 for 15 minutes $0.50 for 30 minutes $0.75 for 45 minutes $1.00 for 1 hour $2.00 for 2 hours Always remember to read the signs in the affected area. The time limit and hours are posted on the signs.
