Programming Work looking at the invisible
For a summer in 2007 I worked at Apple Inc. in the product design department with the antenna group. The purpose of the group is to design and optimize the wifi and bluetooth antennas for all Mac products sans the iPod and iPhone. I spent most of my summer designing and writing code (in python and cocoa) for a wireless subsystem test whose purpose was to determine the relative wireless ability of the different Mac products. The resulting program was featured a GUI interface that automatically collected and saved data from the test, preventing testing errors.
I also did mechanical and 3D modeling work with the group, some of which is present in current Apple products.
