Rambax is open to MIT students, faculty, staff and alumni, and we allow new members every fall. Everyone must attend the first meeting, usually the first Monday of classes (check here closer to the date for exact time). This logistical meeting is mandatory; acceptance into the group will depend on space availability and skill, and will be decided by the director, master Senegalese drummer Lamine Touré.
During the academic year, there is a two-hour instructional session with Lamine Monday nights, and an additional one-hour rehearsal during the week to hone your skills. These rehearsals are taught by advanced members of the group and are meant to give you one-on-one feedback with your peers and hear yourself play, as Monday nights get quite loud!
