Robert Michelson likes to combine his expertise as a photographer, documentary filmmaker and scuba diver. And for the past twenty years, he’s also added education to the mix. Michelson visits schools with photographs, underwater camera, scuba gear, seven-and-a-half-foot-long hammerhead shark and a mounted amberjack in tow. And he talks to kids about diving, oceanography, marine biology and marine ecosystems in Massachusetts. With recent funding from MIT Sea Grant, Michelson has been able to introduce marine life to some 4,000 students and 2,000 teachers in the Braintree Public School System. He’s now expanding that project to bring educational offerings to far more students and teachers in the Quincy Public School System.

Michelson has been a professional photographer/videographer for the past 25 years and his work has appeared in numerous print and television outlets, including In-Fisherman, The Island Journal, NOVA, The Discovery Channel, and the major networks. He has been the recipient of awards from the New England Cable Television Association and the Massachusetts Community Television Contest. He can be reached at (781) 848-8870.
