a vareity of the program's related funded and supported education
efforts and research projects.

Safety: HACCP Education
The National Seafood HACCP Alliance has developed a new Internet-based
Seafood HACCP training course. This new online distance education
program has been designed to be equivalent to the first two days
of the "live" three-day Alliance training courses conducted
across the U.S. over the past 5 years. This new alternative training
program was developed by the Alliance under the direction of NYSG
seafood specialist Ken Gall in collaboration with the FDA, the
Association of Food and Drug Officials, New York Sea Grant, and
the Cornell University Food Industry Management Distance Education
Program.

Island Sound Study (LISS)
This EPA-funded effort, which receives public outreach from NYSG
extension specialist Kimberly Zimmer, is committed to protecting
and improving the health of the Long Island Sound.

Research Initiative
A multi-year research program funded by NYSG and NOAA's Coastal
Ocean Program.

Clam Research Initiative
A two-year research program of research focusing on the south
shore of Long Island.
