Message from Dean Khoury

Dean Philip S. KhouryThis issue of soundings presented us with a welcome problem: too many distinctions bestowed upon our faculty members. When we first put together our back page of honors and awards (as well as book and CD notes), we wondered if we could fill an oversized page twice a year. As it turns out, we could use about twice as much room as we have available. Again, this is a nice problem to have. I am proud of our faculty's outstanding work.

In that vein, I recommend to you this issue's conversation with Professor Melissa Nobles, who continues to break new ground in political science. She once commented to me that people all across the political spectrum were annoyed with her—so perhaps she was doing something right. Read her book, Shades of Citizenship, and I think you'll agree.
