The many faces of Golden Smog

Background
There had to be a song in English here, and I don't want to think too hard about what it says that I chose this to represent all English language songs. Golden Smog is from Minneapolis (me too!), and I first heard them the same way I heard Plastic Bertrand. If you like this, you may also want to look for the Honeydogs.

Lyrics
Hello darkness, come on in
Let me light a candle
Imaginations running
Hands start to tremble
Knows enough to know not to believe
Wha's real, and what it seems to be
Knows what's keeping him from being free
Right outside your door

Chorus:
Don't run away, red headed stepchild
I can only promise you won't find your way back home

In another room there's laughing
Entertaining strangers
Walls in there don't breathe no more
But they're keeping out some angels
Laughed so much, he almost cried
Stranger offers him a ride
City blocks roll on by
Never coming back

(Chorus)

Take your pictures off my wall
I hate to look at strangers
Then it's burning be forewarned
Keep me out of danger
Knows enough to know not to believe
What is real, and what it seems to be
Knows what's keeping him from being free
Right outside your door

(Chorus)

(Chorus)
Find your way back home
