AsiaTreks

Every year, MIT Sloan students travel the world on Sloan Spring Trips and other student-led treks. These treks provide students with the unique opportunity to establish contacts with MIT alumni and business leaders, and apply the learning from the classroom to the real world. Asian Business Club recognizes the value of these trips and is the proud sponsor for AsiaTrek 2003 and Sloan China Trip 2003.

AsiaTrek 2003
In January 2003, the MIT Sloan Asian Business Club organized an entirely student-led trek to Asia, which was co-sponsored by Sloan MediaTech club. The 10-day AsiaTrek took our members to Taiwan and Hong Kong. Deputy Dean Don Lessard and 17 students visited government and business leaders, met with alumni of MIT and MIT Sloan, and experienced how Asian business is conducted first-hand.

Sloan China Trip 2003
Since 1994, MIT Sloan has supported international trips going to China. This year, three of our club co-presidents were on the organizing team for the Sloan Spring China trip. During March 2003, Professor Neal Hartman and 27 students participated in the 10-day trip to Beijing and Shanghai. Besides visiting government and corporation offices, the students organized many joint activities with students from our sister programs at Tsinghua University and Fudan University.

AsiaTrek 2004
We would like to invite science and engineering students from MIT central campus to join us in visiting Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Singapore in January 2004. If there are sufficient interests, we will initiate a Southeast Asian trip to The Philippines, Malaysia, and Thailand. In addition, we will continue our support for Sloan Spring Trips to China and other Asian countries. If you are interested in sponsoring our treks, or if you want to help organize AsiaTreks, please contact Simon Poon, Serene Jiratanan, or Amauri Hong.
