The SMA–MST Programme was a wonderful experience for me. Despite the compressed course schedule, we learned a wide range of subjects from the manufacturing field. The numerous group assignments and projects were also beneficial, and have translated well into real working conditions.

How to Apply

The application for admission to the SMA–MST degree programme consists of two parts. You must complete both an application to MIT and an application to NTU/SMA. Since these are separate documents, you must submit each application independently to each site.

All necessary information for the process can be found on the SMA website, but the important details are noted below.

The MIT Application

The SMA–MST degree programme requires a graduate application to the MIT Mechanical Engineering Department and a short supplemental application for the Master of Engineering degree. This application is due January 15, not December 15 as are other Mechanical Engineering applications.

Key information in the application includes your transcripts, test scores, letters of reference (at least three), and a detailed accounting of subjects taken as an undergraduate.

For the complete MIT application procedure, please go to the MIT MEng Website admissions page. All the procedures outlined there apply to MST applicants.

The SMA Application

You must submit this application to the Singapore–SMA office. It includes much of the same information as the MIT application. Therefore, it is perfectly acceptable to use the same material for both applications, but each separate form must be completed and submitted independently, as different institutions consider each form.

SMA Graduate Fellowship Application

To apply for the fellowship, you must submit this document to the Singapore–SMA office.
