The MIT Solar 7 team is organized into two groups. The marketing and
sponsorship group is advised by industry experts to simplify our efforts at
acquiring donations of parts and money. The prototype and design group is
advised internally by faculty and comprises of four subgroups:
The first group of material specialists must find the appropriate materials to
mitigate the cradle-to-grave waste generated by constructing and destructing
the MIT Solar 7 house. The second group of architects generates plans and
drawings of the design. The third group of mechanical engineers concerns
itself with appliance energy usage and passive thermal storage. The final
group of electrical engineers must find a way to meet the electrical demand by
providing a grid-ready solar electrical generator and associated power
electronics.
