Current Status Report: The days have grown short but that has not dimmed our spirits! We are nearly finished with MIT Solar 7, the 7th in a series of solar homes developed at MIT, for competition in the DOE's 2007 Solar Decathlon Competition. There are few last minute items to take care of here in Cambridge and all thoughts are on the crane that arrives this weekend to lift the house onto trailers for the long journy to D.C. We will miss our building site is at the intersection of Portland and Albany Streets, it has been a "second home" to many of the volunteers over the past 6 months, but we're excited to move on to the competition! |

Construction Crew: The past 4 months ofconstruction have brought a wide range of people all focused on one laudable goal. The assortment of students from MIT, BAC and the neighboring universities, professionals, and volunteers all interested in sustainable technology and development. While there are a tremendous number of people who have sacrificed so much to see this project fulfilled, special consideration goes our Master Builder, Tom Pittsley. Tom will continue his career as a professional builder of energy efficient homes long after the Decathalon has ended, but his passion and dedication will be remembered as a major driving force for this project. |

It's Not Over Yet - Book Your Tickets! While construction in Cambridge is over, you are still invited to visit our site to get involved in D.C. Joining our building team is a great opportunity to learn and take part in an exciting project. Email our build team coordinator. Or, if you prefer to wear sandals, avoid a farmer's tan, and keep sawdust out of your lungs, still come down! You'll get the opportunity to witness history in the making, as the 20 schools competiting in the Decathalon showcase their houses over the month of October. |
