Sample Final Concept Selection:
The incubator will use a phase-change material for maintaining
physiological temperatures of test specimens. Eicosane, a paraffin
wax with a melting temperature of 36.6° C, will be used as the
phase change material. Modules filled with eicosane will be heated
until the wax has melted. An indicator will be mounted on the module
to show when the correct temperature has been reached then the module
will be place in the incubator. There will be two types modules: one
designed for holding test-tubes and the other for petri dishes. The
incubator will be well-insulated in order to maintain temperatures for
the specified time period.
