    First General Meeting
    Monday, September 11 7-8pm

    West Lounge (2nd floor Student Center)
    Sign up for a new committee, volunteer for the Career Fair or Career Fair Banquet, become a Big/Lil Sib. 
    Membership forms will be available.
    Annual Ice Cream Social
    Reg Day (Tuesday, 9/5) 1-5pm

    Private Dining Rooms 1 & 2 (3rd floor Student Center)
    Come make your own ice cream sundae and meet fellow SWE members at this annual event! Membership forms will be available.
    SWE National Convention (June 27 - July 1) 
    Each year MIT SWE sends about a dozen members to the National SWE Convention. It's a chance to meet thousands of professional and student women engineers and men and non-engineers who are interested in SWE. Since this year is SWE's 50th anniversary, the Convention will be a big one! 
    Biweekly Happy Hour 
    Friday, March 10, 2000, 2 -4 pm. Lobby 10.

    Every other Friday, we're hosting a study break to give our members a chance to wind down from the week and to chill with their SWE pals. Usually, this will happen in the SWE Office on the 4th floor of the Student Center, but next week we'll do it in Lobby 10. 
    Beaver Dash 
    Saturday, April 1, 2000, 12 noon - 5 pm. 3-270.

    No fooling, we really did this!
    This is a campus-wide design competition. Everyone (including non-SWE members, faculty, alumni, staff, high schoolers) is welcomed to join in the fun. Click HERE for more information. 
    Week-long Snack Socials 
    Monday - Thursday, December 6-9, 4-5pm: MITSWE office

    Come stop by the office this week to snack on things like ice cream sundaes and root beer floats. While here, you can vote in our ongoing elections, find out more about running for committee chairs, and just chat with other members.

    Vote for next year's officers, and of course, eat dinner! 
    November General Meeting 
    Thursday, November 18, 6:30-8pm: room 3-133

    Come dine and meet our guest speaker, G.Kelly Martin, Senior Vice President and Head of Global Debt Markets at Merrill Lynch. We will be discussing the new MIT-Merill Lynch partnership for research and financial technology. Dinner served at the beginning! 
    Freshman Mentoring Brunch 
    Saturday, November 13, noon: McCormick Green Living Room

    Join us for an ulra-casual Freshman Mentoring Brunch! Upperclassmen, this is your chance to shed wisdom to the freshmen concerning questions about spring semester classes and major choice for freshmen. Freshmen, please come with questions and bring friends with questions!! Everyone bring an appetite! Please RSVP to Eli Kim by Friday night <eliskim@mit.edu>. 
    IBM Extreme Blue Internship presentation

    MIT IEEE and MIT SWE present with I B M a talk by John Patrick, IBM Vice President, Internet Technology. Don't miss this chance to learn more about this new internship program, grab free food, and sign up for door prizes! (food and prizes before talk).
    What is eXtreme BLUE? Last summer, a group of 24 interns from MIT and other top 10 C.S. and engineering schools worked on the hottest projects for IBM Advanced Internet Technologies, had lunch with IBM executives, and heard cool talks by IBM's top researchers!     City Year Serve-a-thon

    A fun day of painting walls and murals at the Boston Housing Authority youth center.

    Our guest this evening is Vanu Bose, founder of Vanu Inc. and an MIT alumnus. We'll be discussing the ins and outs of starting your own company, what you can do with your MIT degree, and more, all while munching on delicious Thai food. 
    Career Fair and Banquet 
    September 30, October 1

    This is the biggest career fair on campus (and the only one this fall), so make sure you don't miss out! MITSWE is helping to co-sponsor this event, and we will have the traditional banquet with recruiters, FREE for members. For more information, please look at the career fair web page.
    "Inside Track from Seasoned Recruiters: Do's and Don'ts" 
    Wednesday, September 28 8-9 pm : room 4-270

    A panel of seasoned recruiters from IBM, Intel, AMS, Kurt Salmon, Goldman Sachs, and Banta Integrated Media will speak on a particular topic and their own personal recruiting perspective. Some topics addressed will include resume do's/don'ts, particular things they've noticed about mit students, and the difference between interviewing and bragging.     CHAOS in Consulting 
    Thursday, September 23: 6pm in 4-237

    An interactive discussion and presentation on consulting by Kurt Salmon Associates, a consulting firm with a unique environment and bright future. Food and prizes will be provided so come and be prepared to learn what consulting is all about! 
    First General Meeting 
    Tuesday, September 14: 7-9 pm in 1-390

    Come to our first meeting of the year! We'll be telling you about our plans for the year, and you can join or renew your memberships. As usual, free dinner! yum.
    Ice Cream Social 
    Tuesday, September 7: 3-5pm in Student Center mezz lounge (3rd floor)

    FREE ice cream on a beautiful, hot day. What could be better? People interested in MITSWE, stop by to chat with some cool people and eat all of our ice cream before it melts : ). 
    Activities Midway 
    Orientation Week, Johnson Athletic Center

    MITSWE had a booth full of info, forms, and cookies for those interested in finding out more about the group.
    National Convention 
    June 22-26, Phoenix, AZ

    MITSWE members went to Phoenix for a week of fun SWE-related meetings, workshops, and tours. Here's the convention's web site.
