Appearance Models
3D Printing can form the heart of a system for concept design. Z Corporation, another MIT licensee, builds the world's fastest prototype parts. They have licensed the 3DPTM technology for appearance parts and concept modeling. The company's Z402 system prints a water-based liquid onto a starch powder, using a multiple-nozzle printhead. Printed parts are generally dipped in wax or other materials to obtain their final strength.
