In 2009, after a decade of design and construction work, the Cambridge Public Library opened its newly renovated and extended main building. The entire job was done with environmental sustainability in mind—from the innovative double-skin glass wall that gives the new extension its signature facade, to the low-VOC paint (in historically accurate colors) used in the original section of the building. The teen interns of Terrascope Youth Radio interviewed library staff and outside experts who were involved in the renovation, and then wrote and produced what is now the Library’s official green audio tour. Download the tour and explore this beautiful building in person, or listen to it online here—we guarantee it will make you want to see the library for yourself!
