SUBJECT: Electric Quadrupole no background  
 

DESCRIPTION: A Dynamic Line Integral Convolution of the electric field of an electric quadrupole with no background quadrupole, with the scale chosen so as to illuminate the features of the intermediate zone. The wavelength cT is indicated in the figure. The underlying velocity field for the DLIC is taken to be in the direction of the Poynting flux, as described at the above link.

Note the lack of flickering in this movie, where we know the velocity of the pattern propagation, as compared to the gravitational curly E dot R case, which is topologically the same field, but where we do not know the velocity of the pattern propagation.
