At MIT my
responsibilities include:
Coordinating and directing academic computing services and
activities. - Athena® and other centralized computing, as well as
decentralized resources in schools and academic departments - for the effective
use of information technology in MIT education. As one of two Practice (Academic
and Office Computing) leaders in MIT's newly reengineered
information-technology organization I am a member of the IT Leadership Team
which collectively oversees and manages all MIT information technology.The ITLT comprises
two Practice and five Process leaders plus two Competency Group leaders and the
Vice President for Information Systems. My responsibilties also include direct
liaison with the Provost, the Deans, and department Heads.
My day to day work involves close interaction with the Academic Computing Support
Team which provides direct planning and operational assistance to educational
computing initiatives as well as with the Academic Computing Management group
that comprises other academic-computing team leaders.
I also participate in the workings of other groups within MIT, in particular,
the Council on Educational
Tehnology; the AdVis ( Advanced Visualization) and Lib. engaged in the
challenging but tremendously exciting task of shaping the educational computing
landscape of the institute n the future.
I find my involvement with the
following professional organizations to be rewarding in terms of the
opportunity to exchange strategies and solutions as well as collaborating in
projects that have broad impact on furthering the effective application of
technology in education:
