Visiting the observatory

Please help us maintain a dark and safe environment in which observers can do their work:

Please keep your home/business lights off when not in use - one poorly aimed floodlight can impact our science data!  When visiting please do not use highbeams while in the parking area or on the upper part of the access road.

Drive very slowly (limit 5 mph). Also, between dusk and dawn, motor vehicles must not approach the domes or the buildings by driving beyond the parking area.

Due to ongoing scientific research, visitors are not permitted on site unless given expressed permission. Tours of the observatory for members of the MIT community are usually scheduled during the IAP offerings. Updated information will be found in the listing of IAP offerings. If your school or group would like a tour contact Tim for more information or check out our Tour Info page here: Tours!
