New news: post-test composition: f is not uniform: f (bulk) = 0.708; f(lower half) = 0.692 ; f(upper half) = 0.726. Also: sample is smoothly tapered from top-to-bottom (in addition to the bottom bulge), which suggests a gradient in f. |

After: photos show that deformation was non-uniform. Careful measurements of diameter will show how it was distributed. Jacket perforation occurred at ridge against bottom end cap. 565 had similar non-uniformity (and also showed non-reproducible rheology). I think we have a case here that the mobility transition is so sharp in f space that small variations in f in a sample can have big rheological effects. |
