Getting Our Hands Dirty: Participation in an Urban Street Tree Nursery
Objective: Create a program for inner city middle school children which teaches them about their environment while reinforcing ideas of self-worth, value of the community, cooperation with others, etc. This will be accomplished through a specific contribution to the making of their place. Specific activities will include:
- Participation in the planting and maintenance of an urban street tree nursery and block planting projects.
- Involvement in street tree and nursery monitoring programs whereby environmental conditions and tree health are understood as being correlated.
- A holistic environmental education program to be developed throughout all levels of Sulzberger Middle School.
