Welcome to the When Support Gets Personal (WSGP) home page. The goal of this program is to to provide comprehensive information about MIT Support resources and the most effective means by which departmental administrators may refer students in need to those services. We have just completed our sixth series, and look forward to many future opportunities to enhance the support structure for all students at MIT.

Why WSGP?
This program seeks to fulfill the recommendation of the MIT Mental Health Task Force Report, Recommendations Section 3.5.1, which suggests:
Train at least one staff member, most likely an Undergraduate
or Graduate Administrator, in each academic department to be Departmental Liaisons
for Support Services... This person should serve as a resource for departmental
faculty and staff who are concerned about a student, as well as for the students
in the department.
The Departmental Liaisons will be trained to:
- recognize signs of common mental illnesses
- be familiar with all of the support services at MIT
- understand MIT's confidentiality & communication policies
This program is provided by the Office of the Dean for Student Life and organized by the WSGP Steering Committee.
