Must I take the GRE to apply to CMS?
The GRE is required and is only valid for 5 years.

How can we receive information about the GRE?

I plan to take the GRE’s, but haven’t had a chance to yet. What do you recommend? Are there other examinations that I need to take?
Decisions about admissions are made in mid-February, which means that we need to receive your GRE (general examination) scores by the application deadline in mid-January. In order to make the deadline, we suggest that you take your exams before that time. MIT also requires that all prospective foreign students who are not native English speakers submit their TOEFL scores.

What are the TOEFL requirements for acceptance?
The minimum TOEFL score that MIT requires is 233 (computer based) or 577 by the old standard.

Is a portfolio required?
Portfolio material is not required, but can be submitted if an applicant feels it will strengthen his or her application. Generally supplemental material is not considered by the admissions committee in the first round of applications, but read only when an applicant is a finalist for admission.

How many recommendations do we need?
All applicants must have at least one academic recommendation.
