Cailin watches Tate direct in shadow Earth. Tate was shot at before leaving the shadow. They went to Random's; Cailin sent a few messengers to Princess Chandra apologizing for his sudden departure. Cailin didn't receive a reply, so sent visual perceptions along with the last mechanized bird; she threw it over her shoulder such that it impaled on a spike and its power supply gave out just as the previous messengers came into view.
Cassandra holds open a trump contact to Osric and he jumps through into the shadow. He's in his combat form. There are several things acting upon him; he defends himself and notices that his power does indeed extend into this place. He thinks that it is several shapeshifters, or maybe one extremely skilled one. Cassandra gives hints on how to better utilize his claws.
Any time that one of the attackers touches Osric directly instead of with a weapon, it finds itself in front of Cassandra
After a couple of moments, Osric has successfully fought off his attackers and raised a shield, then shields his attackers.
He's at the bottom of what would be a blue crystal quarry. He tests the material, and it turns out to be blucite. He realizes that he is only accessing his power through the crystal in his pocket, and that he cannot access it normally. He climbs out of the pit and finds himself in a mechanical room. There are air vents, hoppers, and pits designed to incinerate things
Ilk suggests via Cassandra that the pit could be a shadow entrance-point trap. Osric tries his power again from outside the pit, and can access it normally. He spots a Fringe gate a few parsecs thataway, and receding at a considerable fraction of the speed of light.
Ecto-Ilk solidifies and Logrus-pulls to Osric. It's unpleasant - no Logrus, no magic, and difficult to shapeshift. Osric places Ilk into a bubble of his power and passes through four bubbles.
Cassandra sees four bubbles come through, three full and one empty that immediately pops. Darhyse sniffs at Ilk briefly than wanders off.
Osric looks into one of the pits. There is some blue dust being ground up by Fringe crystal, apparently powering the ship.
Osric asks Colin for a trump of the place where he currently is.
Colin flirts with Cassandra; she shoos off one of her bodyguards who was threatening Colin and flirts back.
Osric returns, then follows the second trail. *Squish*. It's a powerful blucite crusher, that is gradually squeezing his shields. Osric trumps out, leaving his shield behind. About a minute and a half after he leaves, he feels his shield give way. While he was in the shadow, he got the brief impression that it was the same shadow as the previous trail.
The Minbari starts working on the first of the captives. He throws a net over the being before Osric releases it. The net contracts and the being shifts and shifts and shifts. The Minbari is puzzled, and says that the net should force the shifter into its base shape. Ilk believes it to be a primal shifter, like his entities from Home. Ilk tries to describe some basic techniques for handling them, but his techniques involve Logrus and shadow-molding, not magic, and don't seem to work well on this type of critter. Du'Rog decides to defer to his master's arrival. Cassandra tries to contact Lord Talos, but hits a hard block, and can see an image of the door to one of his studios.
Du'Rog subsumes the spheres storing the shifters into his body for later examination.
Cassandra tries to walk Ingold's Pattern in her mind, but keeps getting distracted. She takes off her clothing and takes a bite of a mushroom. She becomes larger than mecha-Jean, concentrates, and tries again. She keeps getting distracted.
Ilk suggests that they try Corwin, who is known to be familiar with the Void, or Verra, who is known to be able to track through the Void.
Cassandra tries to get into contact with her father.
