Jean asks Cailin to check out Darkover for him.
Norton heads to the caverns beneath the power plant to look for rifts. He finds glowing footprints, tracks them down, and finds a satyr-like creature preaching his word. Norton tries to convince the critter not to spread his word. The satyr leads him back to the plant, where Norton sees himself walking out of the reactor.
A tank Jean sees Norton show up, preach at the vampiric demons, then another shows up, the two chat briefly, then disappear through the writing on the wall. He then sees another one walk in with a satyr in tow. Jean and the real Norton discuss the situation and look at the bibliomantic circles. The space inside one of the circles, not the one that the fake Nortons exited through, starts to swirl. Jean checks with Benedict, who advises relocation.
Norton stretches a vampiric demon and climbs inside of it as a costume. The tank tries to look non-threatening and slaps on some UN stickers and a French flag. Norton orders the herd of demons to move that-away, and starts exiting the room.
Jean sends a saucer into Ferethyn's surveillance room and asks Ferethyn to watch what is going on there. Jean casts a bug, and then Ferethyn stretches one of the existing gates in order to get a better view.
Various questions are relayed from Norton to the bibliomancer via a Jean saucer. The guy says that since the gate is glowing yellow they should stop breathing. Nobody in the room breaths, so they don't care. Broadcasting or taking a picture of the words may activate them. The poison is not airborne -- it's a hex that effects people that breathe. Altering the words could activate or deactivate it.
Jean tells Princess Chandra that someone just tried to poison Norton and him. He then fills her in on the bibliomancy and the Gwen recreation plot.
"Who do we have on the spot?"
"Benedict is watching the gate... Verra is converting the priest-hood and looking for loopholes."
"Is anyone trustworthy there?"
"Well, Norton's there too."
"Norton!"
"He's been cast as the villain."
In the midst of this, a Norton runs in and says, "Quick -- let's get out of here! Norton's on his way!" It then falls over and dies, because it was breathing. He looks exactly like Norton, and came up to the him that was hiding in the demon without hesitation. He looked undead, but definitely wasn't undead.
Norton brings him into another room, brings him back, feeds on him, and then the person is under his power. Norton interrogates the guy, who thinks that Norton created him.
"How many of you are there?"
"Oh, hundreds and hundreds."
Norton brings this guy up to say hi to Snarsht.
Norton tries to vibrate things but Benedict and Jean. Soyzilla vibrates, everything Soyzilla touched vibrates, the satyr vibrates, the satyr's footprints vibrate, all of the vampric demons vibrate.
[It's the BeastNapster's Guild!]
Norton passes a message to Snarsht via Jean that there are things running around this reality that bear his signature that are not of his creation. Snarsht walks out of the library and into the cavern. Snarsht becomes metalloid immediately upon arrival.
Norton complains about the shoddy copies. Snarsht circles around the satyr three times and it turns back into a vampire demon.
Norton says that he would like to go check out the potential home of these guys, and asks Snarsht if he would like to go along. Jean will bring a tank. Benedict is asked for his advice, and says that they should be fine.
A tank Jean reads the mandala on the wall. All over reality, Jeans start popping in and out.
"I think that I just broke someone's transportation mechanism."
All Jeans, everywhere, are three shadows to the left. The ones on the promontory with the seventeen powers are melting in the Sea of Chance.
The ones in Tir, Wixer, and the wall of the Pattern room in Rebma stayed put. The one in Jenoir's lab is ripped out. The one in Ferethyn's room is missing. The one with Swayville's ring is still in Swayville.
"Fuck! I'm no longer in my room!"
First priority: get a Jean in his room. Second priority: restore the penta-Jeans. Third priority: Repopulate House Swayville.
The tank Jean is surrounded by Nortons.
"Oh, hi. Take me to your Norton."
Jeans in the Black Zone start gating to the Dancers' Guild.
Cailin creates another Sauron-Jean. Jean and Cailin discuss what just happened. Jean is hungry. Really hungry. All of him are peckish. And there is a section of the ring around Amber that used to be radioactive and is now cold stone. Jean suggests making a cross-shadow Hobbit generator and flinger.
Shiryu is not currently in Jean's head, but Andron is. Andron is saying, "Ouch. I need to lie down... for about a week."
Ferethyn is now very well aware that everything on his screen just scrambled.
Norton and Snarsht try to follow Jean through the mandala. The Celeste in his head keeps telling him to not read various words.
Norton sends a vampric demon through which gets torn to shreds. He sends another one through with orders which is also torn to shreds. He sends a third through with a note for Jean which is also torn to shreds. Jean gets fed up and fries the nearby Nortons. He feels better and less hungry, and goes hunting Nortons.
Norton asks Snarsht if he knows how to go through. Snarsht sighs and leaps through. Norton overrides Celeste and goes through.
Ilk in Norton's head, who has magic, is in terrible pain. Celeste in Norton's head falls over and catches on fire. Ilk pulls the slip-cloth off his recliner and puts out the fire.
As Snarsht walks across the cavern, Nortons turn into demons in his wake.
Norton goes running after the fleeing Nortons. "Stop... come back!" Jean peels off the UN stickers. Some Nortons return. When they find out that Norton is Norton and not a Norton, they attack, until Jean flips the license plate back again.
The Nortons claim that they grew up to be like this. Norton looks at them, and notices a new signature. It's a very small virus. Norton makes antibodies and release them. Norton realizes that Snarsht had been doing that to revert the Nortons that he saw. Norton makes the antibodies airborne and sends demons out to spread it.
Snarsht scrapes a mandala off the wall and asks Jean to send it to Chaos.
Jeans shuffle. They set up Wrath-of-God-red shields near some of the rifts, reactivate the tank factory, and sprint for their rooms. Jean enters Ferethyn's room. Ferethyn is not present. Jean waits in the room for someone to ask what is going on.
All Jeans in bibliomancy shadows blur out all writing.
Jean whales Norton back to Chaos, where he fixes Celeste and ditches the extra head. When he returns to the bibliomancy place, he is undead and still has two heads.
Norton vibrates and detonates a few fake Nortons. Jean sees the debris form the shape of an angel and tells Norton.
Jean whales Norton back to the place where they left Snarsht.
Snarsht is staring at an engine. It's writing words on the floor. It looks like Snarsht has been batting at the pin. Jean questions the bibliomancer, who says that the smears would invalidate the rune. Norton reads it. The bot is writing curses in Norton's name. Norton takes the pin and animates the ink. The ink in the many curses on the ground runs off and scampers in a corner.
Much speculation occurs on the nature of reality, the reality engine, and the rifts. Tree connecting celestial spheres, fractal network w/ reality engine on a high node in our piece of fruit, tying the pieces of fruit together? The sea has depth. Ground beneath the sea?
Note to self: Ask rim fishers if they walk along the continental shelf.
Note - send someone to check out the grass around the Gwen temples
Note - look up books of prophesy.
Speculation that Julian is pointing this biblio-rez thing at Norton as a form of revenge for stealing his nose.
